The ‘Cook and Taste’ Recipe Book has been designed, written and produced by the Community Champions, Eileen, Lynne, Ann and Don and derived from an idea by the Wigan and Leigh Healthy Living Programme Co-ordinator Mick Taylor.

The Community Champions Project was launched in March 2003 by hosting three ‘Health Awareness’ days. The success of these days and the enthusiasm of members of the public to learn more about healthier choices prompted us to expand the project. With the support of Ashton, Leigh and Wigan Primary Care Trust (special thanks to Nicky Monaghan and Helen Turner) we worked in the communities of Higher and Lower Ince and became known as The Ince Food Team.

We worked with a wide range of local groups promoting a range of healthier lifestyle choices and also organised a number of ‘Cook and Taste’ Sessions. The sessions were free, open to everyone and aimed to show people how to cook tasty, easy to prepare healthy meals.

This website is now the final chapter of the project work and is the follow up to the successful launch of the book ‘Nutrition for Better Rugby’ which was produced for the Ince Rose Bridge Sports and Community Club. Our new ‘Recipe Book’ contains a variety of starters, main course and desert dishes for you to try.

All of the recipe’s oin this site have been tried and tested by the members of the Cook and Taste groups. They enjoyed them so we thought you might too. Just give them a try!

‘Good Luck’ and enjoy your cooking.
