Apple Crumble

Ingredients

For the filling:-

3 large Cox’s apples peeled and cored and cut into pieces
25g (1oz) brown sugar
1 pinch of ground cinnamon

 For the topping:-

100g (4oz) plain flour
50g (2oz) sunflower margarine
75g (3oz) oats
75g (3oz) brown sugar
25g (1oz) sultanas or currants

Serves 4-5

Each serving = 1 portion of your 5-A-Day

Method

  1. Pre heat oven to 180c / 250f / Gas Mark 4
  2. Place flour and margarine in a bowl and rub together using finger tips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar and oats.
  3. Place the chopped apples into an oven proof dish and sprinkle over the sugar and cinnamon, mix well.
  4. Put the crumble mix on top of the apples then bake in the oven for 40-50 minutes until the crumble mixture is browned and the fruit is bubbling.

Top Tip

Delicious served with low fat custard made with semi or skimmed milk
