Easy Meatballs and Pasta

Ingredients

450g (1lb) lean mince steak
1 onion grated
2 garlic cloves crushed
2 tbsp fresh bread crumbs
1 jar tomato pasta sauce
1 tsp of rapeseed or olive oil
500g (1lb 2oz) pasta  

Serves 4

Each serving = 1 portion of your 5-A-Day  

Method

  1. Grate the onion and place in a bowl with the crushed garlic, meat and bread crumbs. Season with a little black pepper. With your hands, bring the mixture together and shape into small balls
  2. Heat a teaspoon of oil in a frying pan and cook the meatballs, turning occasionally for 2-3 minutes. Then pour over the jar of pasta sauce bring to the boil then simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. Bring a large pan of water to the boil and cook enough pasta to serve 4 people drain, and then pour over the sauce and meatballs.

Top Tip

Serve immediately with a bowl of salad and this meal would provide you with two portions of your 5-A-Day.
